Short days, report cards & Christmas

Hello Parents,

A few reminders as we enter this last stretch until Christmas break.

Tomorrow & Thursday (Nov 17 & 18): School is dismissed early at 1:30. Our shuttle bus will still run, arriving in town about 1:50 and students can transfer to SD59 busses as needed. Also, Gr 11/12 semester mid-term report cards are going home.

Thurs Nov 18: PAC Meeting at 6:30 pm via zoom. All parents are welcome.

Nov 26: End of Term 1. Report cards will be going home on Friday, Dec 3.

Dec 17: Noon dismissal for Christmas break.

More about Christmas: We will be having a Christmas presentation and are watching the guidelines closely to make final plans. Our current plan is to once again have an online presentation. We hope this is a way we can show some of the work your children have been doing and enable you to join in celebrating their achievements.

The opening of the U.S./Canada border and the upcoming Christmas break may have families considering international travel. Families should be aware of the federal travel guidance around COVID-19, especially the restriction in attending school for unvaccinated students for 14 days following the international travel, including travel to the U.S. We ask you keep these guidelines in mind when planning your vacations. We do our best to support students at home during quarantines, but some material is limited. Please let us know if you have plans that will require your children to not be at school for an extended period of time.

Enjoy the sunshine out there!

Lost & Found

Hello again parents,
We have spread out our lost & found for students to look through and these are the items still unclaimed. There is also still a tent from our campout on the school grounds. If you see something that belongs to your family, please let us know and we will do our best to help it come back home. Items not claimed by early next week will be donated to the thrift store.
Thank you!

Gr 6-12 Survey

Hello Parents,

Tomorrow afternoon, our Gr 6-12 students will be participating in a survey about their faith, values, school life, and mental health. Part of our parent organization, the NAD Department of Education is conducting the project. All responses are completely anonymous; no risks or discomfort are expected and all information students give will be strictly confidential. The benefits of this research include: (a) understanding the students’ perspectives on faith, school, and personal life and (b) enhancing our student services and improving our education. Parents have the right to exempt their students from the survey without any harm or disadvantages to the students.

A letter from the organizers is attached. If you have any concerns regarding the survey, please call the school.

Have a great weekend!
Kristin

Parent Teacher Conferences

Hello Parents,

Just a reminder that tomorrow (Wed) and Thursday we have parent teacher conferences scheduled. Appointments will be by zoom, unless otherwise arranged. If you have not received your time(s) and zoom link(s) by email, please let us know as soon as possible. You can email our office or call the school to verify the time, or make other arrangements.

We recognize your time is important and appreciate you making these appointments a priority. For everyone’s benefit, we will do our best to keep on schedule. There is a small amount of time allowed for technology difficulties but please do your best to be on time and we ask for your patience if you are in the zoom ‘waiting room’ for 5-10 minutes.

We are looking forward to collaborating with you!

Kristin

This Week & Next

Thank you for everyone’s support in keeping students home when ill. You have been amazing at following the guidelines and cooperative when a student starts to not feel well at school. We’ve had most students in attendance this week so we’re happy to see that bugs aren’t spreading. Please continue to encourage your children to wear masks when at all possible and to regularly clean their hands. Hopefully we can stay well and be able to learn together as much as possible.

A couple of notes for this week and next:

Friday, Oct 22 – No SD 59 busses. PCS has a regular day and our shuttle bus will still run at the regular times.

Wed & Thu Oct 27 & 28 – Parent Teacher Interviews. We will be doing these via zoom, starting after school. If you prefer to do yours in person or need a specific time on those days, please call or email our office and we will do our best to accommodate your request. We’re seeing great learning among our students and we want to work with you to help them achieve their best this year.

Stay well!

14 October, 2021 15:37

Hello families,

Please note that the November/December hot lunch forms are due by October 22 (not November 22). Sorry for any confusion.

E-transfers

We love receiving payments by e-transfer!

However, when paying by e-transfer please confirm if it is for pac or office @ peacechristianschool.ca. Pac is for PCS Parent Committee payments to hot lunch, milk & hoodie/t-shirt orders. While office is for Peace Christian School payments of tuition, public bus & extracurricular/sport’s fees, & donations.

You may also pay for multiple items in one payment, as long as you do not combine school & pac items.

Also, remember to include a message explaining what the funds are for. If you are unsure which email to send your payment to, please call the school. Thank you!

Picture Day Tomorrow

A final reminder that it’s picture day tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing everyone’s great smiles 🙂

(And in the event of a not so great capture, there is a retake day planned in the near future)

World Teacher’s Day – Tuesday

Hi Families,
Tuesday, October 4 (tomorrow) is World Teacher’s Day. Our teachers have a huge amount of dedication to your children and it would mean a lot to them if you are able to send those involved in your family with a quick note of appreciation. I encourage you to scribble in your child’s agenda book, send a text or email, or go all out with a video, special drink or gift.
Cheers,
Kristin
