School Next Week

Dear Families,

It’s been an extra long Christmas break for our students and hopefully everyone is looking forward to returning to school! Our teachers have been busy with plans and paperwork and are happy to return to the teaching aspect of their jobs next week.

With the omicron variant of covid spreading more rapidly throughout our province, we are adding some safety measures at school and renewing other measures to reduce the risk to our students and staff as much as possible, while still being able to learn at school.

Please note the following:

Limited visitors – guests are limited to those supporting activities that are of direct benefit to student learning and wellbeing. This means hot lunch can continue (with adults wearing masks), but anyone picking up/dropping off children should stay outside the building while doing so. If you need assistance with something, please come ask with reception at the main entrance.

Daily health check – please continue to check with your children each day that they are healthy. Guidelines to follow can be found here: K-12 Health Check (gov.bc.ca. Please keep children at home if they are sick and follow public health guidelines.

Mask wearing is mandatory – please continue to send a clean mask with your child(ren) each day. There are exceptions for while eating, during high intensity physical activity and for those who have a psychological, behavioural or health condition.

We have taken measures to further reduce crowding in certain areas and will continue to encourage students to wear masks and clean their hands frequently. Our full updated communicable disease plan will be posted on our website this weekend.

Smile through the last of this cold spell! I’m hopeful the forecast for next week stays true.

Happy weekend!

Delayed Return to School

Hello Families,As you may have heard, the Ministry of Education announced this afternoon that there will be a delayed start to school for students until January 10. We currently have limited information but will send out updates as we learn more. In the meantime, if you are an essential worker and need childcare for your children during school hours, please email me directly as soon as possible at katherton at peacechristianschool.ca, explain your situation and we will do our best to help.
Despite all this, we hope you are enjoying some (likely inside) activities together as a family and wishing you a happy New Year!

Christmas Concert

We are proud of our students for all their practice and work to put together Christmas pieces to show to our families. A big thank you to our teachers, staff and Pastor D for their planning and coordination in making this video. We hope you enjoy watching this with your children. We wish each one of you a Merry Christmas and God’s peace this season. Have a great holiday and we will see you in 2022!

Last Week Before Break

One more week until break! Our students did an awesome job of decorating our school last week for this fun season so if you have a chance to come by and look at some of our windows, please do so.

It will be a busy week so thought we’d give you a few reminders:

Events This Week
Monday – Holiday shop for elementary students to buy gifts for loved ones at a low cost (priced from $1-$10) & Santa Hat day
Tuesday – Candy Cane Day
Wednesday – Snowman Day
Thursday – Ugly Christmas Sweater Day (or Christmas Carol speeches)
Friday** – Noon dismissal, Christmas PJ Day, and holiday gift shop purchases sent home

**There will be no shuttle bus on Friday afternoon. The morning bus will run as normal but students will need to be picked up at school Friday at noon.

Tuesday, Jan 4, 2022 – Non-Instructional Day (no school for students)

Covid Reminders
Masks – please do your best to send a clean cloth mask with your student every day. With 100+ people in the building each day, we go through a lot supplying them to students, sometimes multiple times in a day.
Travel – We are following the current Covid-19 guidelines and there are currently some restrictions around attending school after international travel. If you have plans to travel internationally during break, please let us know so we can help you plan for minimal disruption to your child’s education upon your return.

Please Pick Up Mom’s Pantry Orders Today

We were expecting Mom’s Pantry to arrive early next week but it was unexpectedly delivered today.

We understand this is short notice, therefore if possible, please pick up your Mom’s Pantry orders at the school today, December 10, from 2:30-3:30. If you are unable to, please call the school @ 250-788-2044 to make other arrangements as we have limited freezer space.

We apologize for the short notice and inconvenience this may cause you.

Thank you for supporting this fundraiser!
