Bus Changes

Hello Families,
A quick note to let you know that Standard Bus will be transporting our students to/from school tomorrow and likely next week. We may also need to make some adjustments to our lake day plans. We will let you know more details as soon as possible.

Moberly Lake Day

As many of you know, Monday June 27 is our day at the lake. The PCS Parent Committee are providing snacks and deserts on that day. Students still need to have a sack lunch on that day, but PAC will be providing fruit, chips and deserts to students who attend.

We are looking for some parent volunteers to provide deserts on the 27th. If you are able please contact Melissa McAfee.

Thanks in advance,

PCS Parent Committie

Thanks to your efforts and a generous donation we are pleased to announce that we have surpassed our goal of $500 raised in the “MOVE out those BOTTLES” bottle drive.

Thanks to Mrs. Landon for updating the thermometer! And again thank you for your contributions to PCS!

MOVE out those BOTTLES UPDATE

As many of you know May was “MOVE out those BOTTLES month!!”

To date we have raised just a little over $210!! A huge thank you to all who have been out collecting up to this point.

Even though May is over, we are still accepting donations from collected bottles, o continue to round up your recyclables that will fetch a dollar, and round up your extended family and neighbour’s recyclables (with their permission of course) …. and take those BOTTLES down to the Bottle Depot for a refund. Then, (please), bring that refund out to the school. ☺

Thanks to Mrs. Landon for updating the thermometer! The “pop can” thermometer is just outside of Mrs. B’s door, so we can watch our progress to meet our goal! When you bring in your receipts from the bottle depot, please give them to Mrs. Landon or Mrs. Siller.

Winners will be announced soon, and don’s forget that the top COLLECTOR will win a prize!

Happy Bottle Collecting

Lost & Found & New Teacher

Hello Families,
With the warm weather we went through our Lost and Found bin. Attached are pictures of items not yet claimed by students. Please let us know if you recognize anything.
We would also like to extend our warm welcome to Candice Jones who will be joining our teaching staff next school year. She is passionate about young people, the outdoors, and the arts and we are looking forward to having her expertise at our school. She came for a visit this last weekend to learn a bit more about our school and community. Miss Jones will be teaching our Gr 5/6 homeroom, as well as our French classes and Visual Arts. We are grateful for all the time and passion Mr. Scalliet has dedicated to our students and will miss him as he moves to another school. We wish him all the best in his next steps!
Enjoy the lovely weather this week!

Garbage Pickup Tomorrow (Thur)

Just a reminder that we will be spending part of tomorrow cleaning up our neighborhood. We are looking forward to serving our community. So far the weather suggests a sweater, sunscreen, water (and potentially a snack) are all good items to bring. Good walking shoes and rubber boots are also needed. It’s always a great feeling to see things looking better when we are done!

Upcoming Events

Happy long weekend to all our families! Here are a few items to note:

Mon, May 23 – No School

Wed, May 25 – Last swimming day (a fun day!) for K-Gr 6

Thu, May 26 – Garbage pick-up day – We encourage all our students to participate and are looking for parent volunteers as well, particularly for K-2 & Gr 3-4. Service is an integral part of our educational program as we develop young people to be great community citizens.

This is an important day for us to give back to our community, making our environment healthier and prettier for us and for others. Our staff are thankful for this opportunity to serve alongside our students and have fun while doing it!

Fri, Jun 3 – Field trip to WAC Bennett Dam – This will be a school-wide field trip and parents are invited to participate.

Tue, Jun 28 – School Awards Day – Parents are invited to attend our awards ceremony. More information to come.

Full accreditation for six more years – In addition to our BC Ministry of Education evaluation completed this past fall, we recently completed our full school evaluation by the Seventh-day Adventist Education system, which has over 900 schools in North America. The accreditation team found we showed high quality student learning and demonstrated goals and plans for continuous school improvement. We are thankful to have received full accreditation for another six years and appreciate each staff member for a great job done! Thank you also to our parents and students who participated in the surveys and interviews for the accreditation team. They said our students represented the school well.

Plans for high school students – We are reviewing goals, classes and plans with our high school students for next year and future years. More details to come about an information session for Gr 6-8 parents and individual appointments for Gr 9-11 students.

We hope each family has an enjoyable long weekend and wishing our Grade 12’s well on their class trip!

Blessings,

Mrs. Atherton
