No School Friday

Good morning,

There is no school again today as busses are cancelled. Teachers will be sending out learning activities so please watch for that information (to parents for K-Gr 6 and emailed to students for Gr 7-12). We will have a staff member at school for a small group of students so please let us know if you need childcare for the day.

We will also send an additional email today for and adjustment for ski forms, etc.

Take care,

Kristin

No School Today (Thursday)

Hello Families,

There is no school today due to the busses being cancelled due to freezing rain in areas. Please reach out if you need childcare to work and we will do our best to assist.

As per our updated policy, learning activities will be sent to parents for elementary students to do today. Gr 7-12 students will be sent emails for their school work to be done. Please reach out to your home room teacher via Bloomz if you have any questions.

Take care if you’re on the roads,

Kristin

Friday Flash

Hello Families,

Happy new year! Is it just me or does it seem like we went from Jan 1 to Jan 10 in the blink of an eye? We do hope you had a great holiday season. Our classrooms are buzzing with activity and learning, making the most of renewed energy after a break.

Wishing you secure footing and a smile of sunshine this weekend!

Kristin/Mrs. Atherton

  • Jan 31 – Closure of our school-wide survey

To Do

  • Complete our school-wide culture survey. Watch for an email coming to parent emails on Monday. This lets us know how we are doing and where we can focus improvement efforts. Text a picture of your completion screen to our school text line for your child to receive a small thank you token 🙂

Good to Know

  • Registration for the 25/26 school year will be opening soon! If you have family members or friends who wish to attend, please let us know and we will ensure to add them to our communications (particularly regarding preschool & kindergarten).
  • We have noticed several students are borrowing winter gloves to go outside at recess. A staff member noticed that Red Apple has a 50% off sale this Friday/Saturday so it’s a great time to replace winter items.

Shout Outs

  • To the Hook family for doing some maintenance cleaning at school during the Christmas break.

Bake Sale Triumph

Thank you to all our AMAZING bakers who donated goodies for last night’s bake sale. And thank you to everyone who purchased the yummy baking. A lot of compliments were received, every item sold and we raised $698.00 ($186.00 more than last year).

The generous support of our wonderful families is appreciated as well as the volunteers who organized & ran the bake sale; Jen Parrish, Levi Slater, Jessica Neuman, Kayla Henry & Jenn Hook.

We wish you a Merry Christmas & a happy new year full of many blessings!!

Christmas Concert Bake Sale

We’re hosting a festive bake sale at the Christmas concert on the evening of December 18 – treats will be ready to purchase after the concert.

For those able to contribute baked goods, please drop off your goodies at the school tomorrow and Wednesday during school hours.

Together, let’s spread joy and holiday cheer while raising funds for PCS. Your participation will help make this event a sweet success!

Friday Flash

Hello Families,

One more week until break! This year is flying by and it’s a little hard to believe 2024 is almost done. Many students are looking forward to not having schoolwork for a couple of weeks but we hope they are ready to learn again come January 🙂

Wishing each one of you a blessed Christmas and peaceful holiday season!

Mrs. Atherton

This Coming Week

  • Wed Dec 18 – 6:00 pm – Christmas program. Students need to arrive at 5:30 and meet in their homerooms. Please see note going home today for more details.
  • Thu Dec 19 – Deadline for ordering hot lunches for Jan/Feb. Please put your orders in here.
  • Fri Dec 20 – Noon dismissal. There will be regular bussing in the morning out to school but only one bus back to town at lunch time. If at all possible, we encourage parents to come pick their kids up at noon to help manage the gifts, food, and locker clean out.

Looking Ahead

  • Jan 6 – First day back to school
  • Jan 24 – Bear Mtn Ski day
  • Jan 31 – Non-instructional day

Good to Know

  • Most of you participated in our survey regarding school on days when busses are cancelled – thank you! Our board reviewed the results and have decided to keep the current policy as 85% of you are ok or happy with it. However, the majority of you are willing to coordinate learning with students at home for the day so we will put plans in place to communicate learning expectations for the next day when busses are cancelled.
  • We value and need input from our community! In January, we will be doing a school-wide survey about our overall culture for students, parents, and staff. This helps us know what we are doing well and what areas we need to focus on for changes. All responses will be anonymous. Please see the attached letters for more details or if you do not want your child to participate.

Shout Outs

  • To our parents volunteering for the holiday shop. Our students have been busy buying gifts for their loved ones today. Thank you to all who supported this event!
  • To Uzziah, Joey, Ethan C, Hannah, Alana, Fiona, Angelique and Summer for showing Bravery in the month of November!

Holiday Shop Reminder

Dear Families,

We are just one week away from our Holiday Shop and we just have a few reminders!

Any donations of gently used items (still in great condition), new items (still in packaging), wrapping paper, gift bags, tissue paper or tape can be brought to the school next week between Monday, December 9th and the morning of Thursday, December 12th. Students will be able to shop from the ‘store’ and purchase gifts for $1.00 and $2.00 on Friday, December 13th.

After students have purchased and wrapped their gifts, they will come home with students the same day. For those who ride the bus, we are able to store their gifts until parent pick up at noon-dismissal on Friday, December 20th.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school and speak to Mrs.Siller.

We are looking forward to a wonderful Holiday Shop day!

Thank you so much,
