Good to Know

  • Every student is assigned to a house team made up of students from Kindergarten through Grade 12. We have four different colours (black, white, grey and green) and each colour has three animal teams assigned to it. Team members receive gems as recognition for positive actions, responsibility, kindness, etc. It’s a fun way to promote a positive learning environment and divide ourselves up for various activities throughout the year.
  • Our teachers spent Monday learning several aspects to grow and improve in their practices. We are thankful for time to spend in continuing to improve in what we do!

Shout Outs

  • To Lily, Micah, Liam Bu, and John who stood out in their enthusiastic participation in the Terry Fox Run!
  • To our student association members who were voted to lead school activities: Iwa, Rikky, Delight, Theora and Dejrah! We look forward to their leadership this year.
  • To our staff (and their great teamwork) for pulling off a fun camp-in for our Gr 5-8 students. And to our students who made the job fun and rewarding.

Verse of the Week

Philippians 4:6-7

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

This verse reminds us that we can have peace through whatever life throws at us—even in the midst of difficult situations, God will be with us.

If you’re unsure how to login, please let us know and we will assist you in getting in. We hope to have some instructions about where exactly to click coming your way soon!
  • Online Calendar – Unsure of when something is happening? Check out our online calendar. It is accurate for our current plans although occasionally something does change as necessary as the year progresses.

Verse of the Week – Isaiah 40:31

"But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint."

We had good participation and generally good attitudes, along with lovely weather! We appreciated getting to know them a little better and enjoy time in nature together. See the verse of the week below for a little of a topic talked about by Pastor Neil during our event.

We look forward to seeing everyone again for week three! Until then, enjoy your weekend and take time to enjoy the extended summer weather!

Warmly,
Mrs. Atherton

Friday Flash

Dear Families,

The first week is accomplished! We are thankful for all who came to orientation and all who have helped with the follow up pieces this week. Classes have started off well and everyone is starting to figure out the flow for the year.

Biweekly (and sometimes more often), we do our best to send out a Friday Flash to keep you up to date with school events and noteworthy news. We want to keep you well-informed about what is happening within our building. It is also a good idea to join the classroom Bloomz account(s) to receive more grade specific information.

As we go forward into the school year, please reach out with any questions or concerns. We are here to partner with you in making the most for your children’s future! May your home be filled with peace, your hearts with courage, and your days with joy. We’re grateful to walk this journey with you.

Warmly,
Mrs. Atherton

Verse of the Week

As we journey through the school year together, we hope these verses offer encouragement, peace, and reflection for your family—whether you’re deeply rooted in faith or simply exploring.

Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”

This verse reminds us that God has good plans for us—even when the future feels uncertain. Whether you’re facing a busy week or enjoying a quiet moment, may these words bring comfort and perspective.

Gr 5-12 Sports

Our apologies as we were inconsistent with some communication about our after school sports.

Please sign up for Bloomz classroom code R76HEQ for updates in the future. Many parents are not yet signed up so we are sending this as a one-time general message to all.

Sr Volleyball
– Starting Monday, Sep 8
– Mon/Wed from 2:45 – 4:30 pm

Jr Football
– Starting Tuesday, Sep 9
– Tue/Thu from 2:45 – 4:30 pm

Permission forms are going home to be returned as soon as possible.

Our sincere apologies for the inconvenience any miscommunication may have caused. We look forward to having our students participating in our sports starting next week.

Welcome Letter

Dear Families,

As we gear up for a brand-new school year, I want to take a moment to say something that really matters to me: We’re in this together.

Whether you’re joining our school community for the first time or you’ve been with us for years, please know this—we’re committed to creating a space where every young person feels seen, supported, and safe. A place where they can grow academically and personally. That kind of environment doesn’t just happen—it’s built through partnership, open communication, and trust.

1. Relationships matter—and we’re working hard to get them right.

At the heart of everything we do is a simple truth: kids learn best from people they trust. Our staff prioritizes relationships because we know that real growth—academic, emotional, social—starts with safe, caring adults who show up consistently. Those connections aren’t random. They’re intentional and they’re essential. We won’t always get it perfect, but we’re committed to learning and growing, just like the students we serve.

2. We train our staff to build trust and hold healthy boundaries.

Every adult in our building is expected to be someone your child can count on—for support, encouragement, challenge, or comfort. We provide ongoing focus on building strong connections and maintaining clear, healthy boundaries.

We also help staff navigate communication with families, manage concerns professionally, and recognize when extra support is needed. This isn’t a one-and-done training—it’s a long-term commitment.

3. What you can expect from us.

As partners in your child’s growth, here’s what we promise:

· We’ll treat your child with dignity and respect.

· We’ll communicate clearly and consistently.

· We’ll follow school policies.

· We’ll assume good intentions, listen well, and respond with care.

· We’ll create space for your child to take healthy risks and build resilience.

  • And we’ll always see you as a vital part of this journey.

We’re not promising perfection—but we are promising professionalism, presence, and heart.

4. What we hope we can expect from you.

You know your child best. And we ask that you trust us in knowing student development. When we meet in the middle—with mutual respect and shared expectations—we can do incredible things together.

Here’s what helps:

  • Make sure your child gets enough sleep and arrives on time.
  • Reach out if you need resources—we’re here.
  • Read messages we send home and respond when needed.
  • Speak positively about school and the adults here—your child picks up on your tone.
  • Let your child experience natural consequences and build resilience.
  • Avoid texting during school hours unless it’s urgent.
  • Show up when you can—events, concerts, games. It means more than you know.
  • Encourage your child to connect with trusted adults at school.

In closing, I hope this message reminds you that behind every confident, capable child is a team of adults—parents, teachers, coaches, mentors—working together.

We’re proud to be on your child’s bench.

Warmly,

Kristin Atherton
Principal

Final Flash

Hello Families,

Tomorrow is the last day of school! We are looking forward to spending the morning with our students at Moberly Lake Park. The bus and staff vehicles will take students from the bus stop at 8:30 and leave the lake at 12:30 pm to return back to the bus stop about 12:50 pm. There will be some food but students may wish to bring some with them as well. Families are welcome to join us.

We enjoyed celebrating our students and all their achievements today! There has been a lot of effort and work in learning and building character and we are proud of them. Thank you to all the parents, family members and friends that came out to join in the recognition. And a big thank you to our teachers and staff for their work throughout the year and to put together today’s program.

If anyone has items they forgot at school (inside shoes, etc.), Wednesday or Thursday are the best times to pick them up. After that, it will be by appointment as we are part-time until late August so text or email for a time.

Major items are on our calendar for next school year. Orientation is Aug 28, 2025 with the first day of school September 2. We look forward to seeing everyone back and until then, enjoy your summer and the variety it holds!

Numbers 6:24-26 "The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace." (song version)

Warmly,
Mrs. Atherton

P.S. Linda Beare, the Minister of Childhood and Education has written a letter for parents and caregivers that we are passing along to you.
