Friday Flash

Hello Families,

With a white winter outside, some are getting excited for Christmas. Some of us are not quite there yet, but it’s getting to be the season!

We invite you to come out this evening for Restoration at 7pm in our chapel. Enjoy music, encouragement and thoughts to keep us going for another month.

Please see the notes below about items coming up and who we’re celebrating this week.

Have a great weekend!

Good to Know

  • We are so proud of our junior flag football teams! We recently learned that both our teams received the Sportsmanship Award for their pool at the flag football tournament in Kelowna. To have both our B and C teams be top of the tournament for who they are, says a lot about you as parents, our program, and who our students are becoming. We are grateful to Mr. Atherton and Miss V for helping coach them into great citizens! And a shout-out to Lakeview Christian School who joined our teams and were part of this award.
  • We are glad our senior volleyball students had a safe trip to Burman University for the tournament and enjoyed themselves while away.

Shout Outs

  • To Danielle Bunker for driving the bus for our senior volleyball tournament to Burman University
  • To Norm Bunker and Jerson Balane for continuing to support our building maintenance needs
  • To Jessica Neuman and Kayla Henry for running our milk program and helping get Scholastic orders out
  • To all our parents participating in our hot lunch program – thank you for the great food!

Verse of the Week – Philippians 4:19

No School Today

Dear Families,

We regret to inform you that there is no school today. Busses are canceled due to bad road conditions. Please let us know if you need childcare assistance and we will have a staff member to help.

We recognize we have had school cancelled more often this winter so far. We understand this is difficult for families and are concerned about learning missed if this trend continues. We will be reviewing our policy and what our options are to best support our students and families.

Thank you for your understanding.

Holiday Shop

Dear Families,

We are so excited to once again be hosting a Holiday Shop for our elementary students. This Holiday Shop gives children an opportunity to purchase gifts for the special people in their lives and put something under the tree all by themselves. We will set up a ‘store’ for the students to shop from; each gift costing $1.00-$2.00. We will then help students wrap the gift and put a tag on it. This is such a merry experience for our students!

We are asking students to bring items to school that they would like to donate to the Holiday Shop. You may also want to ask family and friends for contributions. We are looking for gently used items (still in great condition) or new items (that are still in packaging). Please keep in mind that students may choose to shop for parents, grandparents or siblings, so a wide range of items is greatly appreciated. Donations of wrapping paper, gift bags, tissue paper and tape are also needed.

We are asking for all donations to be brought to the school between Monday, December 9th and the morning of Thursday, December 12th to allow time for us to arrange the store. Students will be purchasing their gifts from the Holiday Shop on Friday, December 13th. Wrapped gifts will come home with children after shopping the same day. For those riding the bus, we can store their gifts until parent pick up at noon dismissal on Friday, December 20th.

Any leftover items will be donated to the Thrift Store.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school and ask for Mrs. Siller.

Thank you so much!

Happy Holidays!

No School Today (Tues)

Families, we will not be holding school today as busses are cancelled for poor road conditions and most of our families rely on our bussing to attend school. If your children require childcare and you need assistance, please reach out to their home room teacher. Take care out there!
