Delayed Return to School

Hello Families,As you may have heard, the Ministry of Education announced this afternoon that there will be a delayed start to school for students until January 10. We currently have limited information but will send out updates as we learn more. In the meantime, if you are an essential worker and need childcare for your children during school hours, please email me directly as soon as possible at katherton at peacechristianschool.ca, explain your situation and we will do our best to help.
Despite all this, we hope you are enjoying some (likely inside) activities together as a family and wishing you a happy New Year!

Christmas Concert

We are proud of our students for all their practice and work to put together Christmas pieces to show to our families. A big thank you to our teachers, staff and Pastor D for their planning and coordination in making this video. We hope you enjoy watching this with your children. We wish each one of you a Merry Christmas and God’s peace this season. Have a great holiday and we will see you in 2022!

Last Week Before Break

One more week until break! Our students did an awesome job of decorating our school last week for this fun season so if you have a chance to come by and look at some of our windows, please do so.

It will be a busy week so thought we’d give you a few reminders:

Events This Week
Monday – Holiday shop for elementary students to buy gifts for loved ones at a low cost (priced from $1-$10) & Santa Hat day
Tuesday – Candy Cane Day
Wednesday – Snowman Day
Thursday – Ugly Christmas Sweater Day (or Christmas Carol speeches)
Friday** – Noon dismissal, Christmas PJ Day, and holiday gift shop purchases sent home

**There will be no shuttle bus on Friday afternoon. The morning bus will run as normal but students will need to be picked up at school Friday at noon.

Tuesday, Jan 4, 2022 – Non-Instructional Day (no school for students)

Covid Reminders
Masks – please do your best to send a clean cloth mask with your student every day. With 100+ people in the building each day, we go through a lot supplying them to students, sometimes multiple times in a day.
Travel – We are following the current Covid-19 guidelines and there are currently some restrictions around attending school after international travel. If you have plans to travel internationally during break, please let us know so we can help you plan for minimal disruption to your child’s education upon your return.

Picture Retake Orders

Hi Parents,

School pictures ordered with the initial group ordering went home with students yesterday. Order sheets from retake day also went home. We highly recommend ordering these pictures online. Because the order was a little delayed in getting to us, the group order deadline (to save shipping costs) will be this Sunday, Dec 5 (not Nov 29 as in the info). These pictures will hopefully be here before our Christmas break on the 17th. You are also welcome to order anytime and have pictures shipped to your home.

We have so many beautiful students and it’s been fun to see all their pictures!

School Today

Hello, our shuttle bus will be running this morning (as the route is almost all highway) and school will be open today, for those able to come. We hope to see you for great learning and hot lunch 🙂

New Events

Hi Parents,

We have a few new things added to the next couple of weeks and an addition to Christmas break. Please see them below. Our grads will also be doing a couple of activities for our students so info will be going home soon for those as well.

Fri Dec 3Team Colour Day: Friday will be team spirit day and so students are asked to wear their team colour this Friday. Team colours are black, red, green or blue and your child should know which is their team colour.

Now until Christmas vacationFood Collection for Christmas Hampers: We encourage families that are able to send dry or canned food items to school to support the food hampers that will be given out this holiday season. Our house teams will be competing for team points for the largest pile of goods contributed.

Tues Jan 4 Non-Instructional Day: Our teachers will be participating in a workshop and professional development activities as part of Ministry of Education guidelines.

And as usual, you can find our calendar on our website for any reminders: Calendar | Peace Christian School. Happy holidays!

Short days, report cards & Christmas

Hello Parents,

A few reminders as we enter this last stretch until Christmas break.

Tomorrow & Thursday (Nov 17 & 18): School is dismissed early at 1:30. Our shuttle bus will still run, arriving in town about 1:50 and students can transfer to SD59 busses as needed. Also, Gr 11/12 semester mid-term report cards are going home.

Thurs Nov 18: PAC Meeting at 6:30 pm via zoom. All parents are welcome.

Nov 26: End of Term 1. Report cards will be going home on Friday, Dec 3.

Dec 17: Noon dismissal for Christmas break.

More about Christmas: We will be having a Christmas presentation and are watching the guidelines closely to make final plans. Our current plan is to once again have an online presentation. We hope this is a way we can show some of the work your children have been doing and enable you to join in celebrating their achievements.

The opening of the U.S./Canada border and the upcoming Christmas break may have families considering international travel. Families should be aware of the federal travel guidance around COVID-19, especially the restriction in attending school for unvaccinated students for 14 days following the international travel, including travel to the U.S. We ask you keep these guidelines in mind when planning your vacations. We do our best to support students at home during quarantines, but some material is limited. Please let us know if you have plans that will require your children to not be at school for an extended period of time.

Enjoy the sunshine out there!

Lost & Found

Hello again parents,
We have spread out our lost & found for students to look through and these are the items still unclaimed. There is also still a tent from our campout on the school grounds. If you see something that belongs to your family, please let us know and we will do our best to help it come back home. Items not claimed by early next week will be donated to the thrift store.
Thank you!
