Hello Families,
The first week of school is over! We’ve loved having students back in our building, enjoying changes from over the summer and getting to know new faces. Today we organized our house teams to encourage interaction among the variety of ages that we serve. We look forward to doing fun activities together and appreciate seeing leadership skills develop in the older students.
Regularly on Fridays (at least every other week), we send out this Friday Flash to communicate the happenings at our school and/or remind of upcoming events. The calendar on our website holds future dates for your reference. If you have a question about an item, please email or text the office to get more information. We also encourage you to be part of your homeroom Remind group for classroom updates.
Wishing each one a restful weekend!
Mrs. Atherton
This Coming Week
- Thu Sep 17 – Gr 9-12 Campout – See permission slip emailed home for details
Upcoming Events
- Sep 21 – School Picture Day
- Sep 30 – No School for Truth & Reconciliation Day
Good to Know
- As notified earlier this week, the busses coming to PCS are at the back of the bus line now. For drop-off/pick-up, please use the Rec Centre parking lot for student safety. Students must only cross the road at a crosswalk. A big thank you to everyone for cooperating well these first couple of days. We also appreciate the positive feedback we received with the change.
- Our school supervision hours are from 8:20 am until 2:40 pm. Please ensure that drop-offs and pick-ups at school are within these hours.
- Although we do not yet have confirmation of the Feeding Futures Funding, we anticipate receiving it and will provide some breakfast and lunch food for those who forget or need a little extra. For requests outside of these times, granola bars will be available for sale for $1. Pencils for upper grade students will also be available for purchase as families are responsible for providing supplies from Gr 7-12.
Shout Outs
- To all those who came out for orientation! We appreciate all the paperwork received and being able to say to each family. We look forward to interacting with you further throughout the school year.
- To Randy Philips and the Bunker family for yard maintenance done over the summer and just before school. It was looking spiffy for the first day!

Verse of the Week – 1 John 4:7
"Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God."
This verse is foundational for us as a school. We want each student to feel loved and cared for in our space this school year!
