Garbage Day Tomorrow

Hi Families,

Tomorrow (Thursday) is our annual garbage pickup day. Being a responsible citizen and giving back to our community are important characteristics for individuals to have so we have a happy, healthy society. We participate in road/highway clean-up to help instill this in our students. Our K-Gr 1 class will be walking around the Dokkie subdivision collecting garbage, our Gr 2-12 students will be along the highway between town and our school.

Students will be briefed on highway safety and provided with a reflective vest and gloves to wear. We will be out for a few hours and hopefully be done around lunch time. If you are able to attend, we would love some volunteers to join us (our apologies for the late notice). After lunch we will have a treat and a house team activity.

Please ensure your child wears appropriate clothing and shoes for tomorrow:

– Good walking footwear or rubber boots

– Sweater/jacket & long pants (morning will be chilly)

– Water bottle

– Snacks and/or sack lunch

– Sun protection (hat or sunscreen)

Watch for us along the highway and honk as you pass. It will look much better by the end of tomorrow 😊

Yearbooks

Dear PCS families,

This is your reminder that the deadline to purchase any extra yearbooks for your family is this coming Friday, May 3rd. The parent committee is covering the cost of 1 yearbook per family, but any additional yearbooks that you would like must be paid for by May 3rd. The yearbooks are $28/book. If you are ordering an extra yearbook, please email pac to let us know how many extra yearbooks you would like. When paying for the book, we will accept e-transfer, cheque, or cash. Cheques can be made out to “PCS Parent Committee” and e-transfers can be sent to pac. Thank you!

Update: School Tomorrow

Hello Again,

The evacuation order has changed to an alert and the highway is open with alternating traffic. I came out and a team of firefighters was just getting ready to leave the yard. We are thankful for their work!

Everything is good at the school. The entries smell of smoke and a few crisp spruce needles are on the front walk but otherwise it all looks normal. Electricity is on and no cleanup to do so we are grateful.

We are praising God for his care over our community and all who worked hard to ensure our buildings are safe.

We understand stress takes its toll so encourage all those impacted to take the time to recover. If you were evacuated or packing, that may be a few days. For the rest of you, see you back at school tomorrow!

Kristin

Fire/School Update

Hello Families,
The recent update we received is that the evacuation order is likely to be lifted later today. This means we are currently planning for school tomorrow. Another update will be sent out later today to confirm or notify if this changes.

If there is school tomorrow, the Gr 4-6 class will be having their bake sale tomorrow as it was missed today.

We are praising God for answered prayers and that everyone is safe. We are grateful to our emergency services teams who have worked hard to manage this fire and protect our school and our community.

Will be in touch,
Kristin

Thursday Offers

Families,

We have staff members who are less impacted that are able to help out tomorrow:

1. There will be lunch, board games and tutoring at Mickey’s Place tomorrow, starting at noon for Gr 7-12 students.

2. If someone needs childcare, let us know and we can put you in touch with someone able to help.

3. The Baptist church has frozen meals and ability to assist any evacuated families who could use a hand right now.

We’re thankful to be part of a community that pulls together through tough times!

Gratefully,
Kristin

Fire Near School

Dear Families,

As you may be aware, there is a fire near the school. At this time, the school is fine, though we do not know exactly what to expect. We are thankful for a wide area around it.

We are praying that the school and all the homes in the area will be safe. We will send out an update regarding school tomorrow when we know more.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Kristin
