Friday Flash

Hello Families,

Time is speeding by quickly with just one more full week of school remaining! Where has the year gone? Thankfully, we have all worked hard and students are showing progress. To celebrate this progress, you are invited to our awards ceremony for Kindergarten through Grade 12 students at 10 am on Tuesday June 23.

Enjoy the sunshine after the much needed rain!
Mrs. Atherton

This Coming Week

  • Tue June 16 – Numeracy 10 Assessment at 9 am
  • Wed June 17 – K-Gr 6 Field Trip & Literacy 10 Assessment
  • Thu June 18 – Gr 7-11 Field Trip
  • Fri June 19 – Visit from our new School Pastor & Gr 12 Graduation

Upcoming Events

  • Monday June 22 – Sports Day & Fire Truck Visit
  • Tuesday June 23 – Awards & Class Parties – See good to know
  • Wednesday June 24 – Moberly Lake Day & Last day of school

To Do

  • Complete the emailed permission slip for the end of year field trips. There will be one more coming for Lake Day (last day of school).
  • Do your best to have a white shirt for your child for Lake Day. There will be some colour fun for students to participate in.

Good to Know

  • Because our K-Gr 6 field trip is happening on hot lunch day, their lunch will be served on Thursday, June 18 instead. Gr 7-12 will still have their lunch on the regular day of Wednesday.
  • Our K-Gr 12 awards ceremony starts at 10 am. The full event will take about an hour and a half. We start with the youngest classes, then awards across the whole school, and then the upper grade awards. We love having family members present if you’re able to attend.
  • Lake Day is our last day of school. We will transport the students from the bus stop to the lake in the morning and then will be done at the lake at noon. We encourage you to pick up your child at the lake if possible and join us for the morning or awhile. There will be some transportation back to town, leaving the lake just after noon.
  • Northern Lights College is hosting a series of local Summer Youth Camps designed specifically for youth going into grades 8 to 12 in the fall to explore rewarding, high-demand careers in areas like healthcare and the skilled trades. Please see this link or the attachment for more details about the Chetwynd camps.

Shout Outs

  • To all our students and adult volunteers who came out for Highway Clean-up Day! We were done in record time and made our community (and our drive to school) look much better.
  • To our graduates for all completing their capstone presentations and some awesome ones at that!

Verse of the Week – Philippians 1:6

"And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns."

This verse reminds us that what is begun in us will be completed.
