Hello Families,

I’ve attended a few trainings over the past months on AI and it is definitely changing our world! It’s both amazing and scary but I do believe it’s here to stay and we need to inform ourselves. Please see the attached resource as one way to help with that.

• Our Grade 5 & 6 students had fun on their field trip to the Community Forest, learning about forest values.

• To our student body (and families) for raising $1,250 for the Terry Fox Foundation and cancer research! A special shout out to Annie, Athena, Chanika and Fiona for their bakesale funds and the Neumann family for the donations they collected.

"Our current world climate is constantly connected to technology. What do we need to know as parents/caregivers to protect our children and teach them responsible and appropriate uses of technology? Good to Know

• Every student is assigned to a house team made up of students from Kindergarten through Grade 12. We have four different colours (black, white, grey and green) and each colour has three animal teams assigned to it. Team members receive gems as recognition for positive actions, responsibility, kindness, etc. It’s a fun way to promote a positive learning environment and divide ourselves up for various activities throughout the year.
• Our teachers spent Monday learning several aspects to grow and improve in their practices. We are thankful for time to spend in continuing to improve in what we do!

• To Lily, Micah, Liam Bu, and John who stood out in their enthusiastic participation in the Terry Fox Run!
• To our student association members who were voted to lead school activities: Iwa, Rikky, Delight, Theora and Dejrah! We look forward to their leadership this year.
• To our staff (and their great teamwork) for pulling off a fun camp-in for our Gr 5-8 students. And to our students who made the job fun and rewarding.

This verse reminds us that we can have peace through whatever life throws at us—even in the midst of difficult situations, God will be with us.

Good to Know

• Our students gathered and commemorated Truth & Reconciliation Day today. Many wore orange shirts to remember the past and commit to work for a better future.
• Our students walked and ran for the Terry Fox Run today. In the hour-long event, two students accomplished six laps of the ~2km loop, with one more at five laps. We also saw a few great attitudes which we greatly appreciated!

Verse of the Week – Isaiah 40:31

"But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint."

This verse reminds us to pause and take time to renew and find strength in hope. It seemed extra applicable after our Terry Fox Fun today!

We will be commemorating Truth & Reconciliation Day by wearing orange shirts. We encourage all students to participate if possible. We will have orange ribbons to share with those who may not have an orange shirt to wear.

We are also doing our Terry Fox Run from about 10:30-11:30 (younger grades will be shorter). Parents are welcome to join in the exercise or be support personnel along the sides for our students.

Dear Families,

Another week has passed quickly and we are settling into the routine of school again. Our Gr 9-12s had our yearly campout last night and it was a success! We had good participation and generally good attitudes, along with lovely weather! We appreciated getting to know them a little better and enjoy time in nature together. See the verse of the week below for a little of a topic talked about by Pastor Neil during our event.

The first week is accomplished! We are thankful for all who came to orientation and all who have helped with the follow up pieces this week. Classes have started off well and everyone is starting to figure out the flow for the year.

Biweekly (and sometimes more often), we do our best to send out a Friday Flash to keep you up to date with school events and noteworthy news. We want to keep you well-informed about what is happening within our building. It is also a good idea to join the classroom Bloomz account(s) to receive more grade specific information.

We are pleased to invite you to our upcoming Orientation Day on Thursday, August 28. Students are asked to attend with a parent or guardian at a convenient time between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Please plan to stay for approximately one hour.

During your visit, you will have the opportunity to:

• Select a locker
• Receive your class schedule
• Meet staff members
• Register for sports programs
• Verify and update student information

Hello Peace Christian School Families,

We hope you’re enjoying the final weeks of summer and finding time to relax, recharge, and make great memories. As we plan a smooth and welcoming start to the year, we’re excited to welcome your child(ren) back to school and begin another stage of learning, growth, and fun!

Orientation Day
Mark your calendars! Orientation will take place on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at PCS from 10 am until 4 pm. We ask that all students attend with a parent. This is a great opportunity to:
– Meet your child(ren)’s teacher(s)
– Tour the classroom
– Receive class schedules
– Choose a locker
– Learn any updates to policies
– Ask questions and connect with other families

School Supplies
For K-Gr 6 students, school supplies are covered by the school. Please ensure your child(ren) has a water bottle and indoor shoes. Indoor shoes need to be non-marking and without laces if your child has not yet mastered tying them independently.

For Gr 7-12 students, please see our school supply list for the items you will need (which includes a water bottle and non-marking indoor shoes).

If you have any questions before orientation, don’t hesitate to contact us at office or text to 250-788-2043. Next week we start more regular hours at which time phoning us at 250-788-2044 is also a great way to reach us.
