Friday Flash

Hello Families,

As we come near to the middle of the year, we see great progress in our students. Every Friday our staff share student highlights with each other and it is great to hear about the positive attitudes and leaps in learning that we see.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

Please watch for a specific email asking for your re-registration – we would love to have everyone back! If you have friends or relatives thinking about coming, we encourage you to let them know to reach out for a tour, application, or to be added to the list for the Kindergarten Open House (happening in February).

Shout Outs!

  • We appreciate our parking lot being sanded a couple of times this week!
  • We continue to enjoy hot lunches and appreciate all the work to make and serve it. Thank you to all who participate!

Resources

Verse of the Week – Matthew 5:14-16

"You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father."

This verse reminds us that our lights matter – shine it brightly!

Vehicles in Bus Area

Families,

We have concerns about the safety of students around the bus transfer area. To keep everyone safe:
1. Please stay out of the Windrem School parking lot.
2. Please drive slowly.
3. Please follow road rules and have your children cross the road appropriately. Going into the parking lot between the rec center and Chetwynd Secondary and having your children walk to/from the bus is likely a safer option.

Thank you for doing your part to keep everyone safe. Please encourage other families to do the same.

Regards,
Mrs. Atherton

Friday Turned Monday Flash

Hello Families,

The weather seems like spring yet we know it’s still January and winter isn’t done yet! We will enjoy the lack of cold while we can.

We’re back in the routine of learning with a small bump today due to a power outage for a while but classes continued as normal while we waited for the lights to come back on (and we were thankful they did!).

As you may be aware, our community has been impacted and are grieving the loss of two young members of the Peace Region. Our prayers go out to those grieving. Please see the attachment for resources, guidance and free upcoming training sessions to support families.

Please see the notes below for items this week and upcoming in January. And as always, reach out if you have any questions.

Walk carefully out there!
Mrs. Atherton

This is often an email, along with a Bloomz message and sometimes on social media as well. We encourage you to check our communication methods if your young person tells you that school is cancelled and feel free to call or text us to verify if needed.
  • Bear Mtn Ski Day – Permission slips went home on Friday. We encourage all to come and enjoy physical activity together as a school. Parents are welcome. If you plan to ride the lift, please complete the permission slip for yourself as well as your children.

Final 2025 Friday Flash

Dear Families,

What a week! The amount of snow that has come down is phenomenal and it makes navigating life more difficult. Thank you for your patience as we navigate the challenge of no bussing. We continue to monitor and adjust how to ensure students have the opportunity to learn the full curriculum expectations and yet live where it can be challenging to get to school.

As we start this Christmas break, we want to wish each of you a wonderful holiday season! May you find peace and joy and remember what is most important in life.

We look forward to seeing everyone back for January 5. Until then, stay warm!

Mrs. Atherton

Verse of the Week – Isaiah 9:6

"For a child is born to us,

a son is given to us.
The government will rest on his shoulders.
And he will be called:
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."

This verse gives all of us a promise of peace and hope!

No Busses Today

Good morning, there are no busses today so we will not have classes. Today was scheduled for fun activities to celebrate Christmas so there will not be work sent home. We will miss our celebrations for now but will likely schedule some parts for the new year. We do encourage those students who have missed learning activities to take some time to work on them. The last Friday Flash until after break will come out later today. Until then!

Busses Cancelled Today

Good morning, busses are cancelled today so we will not have classes today. Work will be sent home for students. There will be staff at school for students who need supervision today.

Our Christmas program is still happening tonight at 6pm. We are looking forward to seeing everyone there. There will be a live video on YouTube found here: https://www.youtube.com/live/z9Eo87LI4iU?feature=shared

Stay warm out there!

No busses today

Families, due to road conditions, there are no busses today and therefore no in person classes. Continued learning is important and there will be staff at school to help supervise and encourage students to do their work. If you need your children at school and are able to get them there, please let your homeroom teacher know (or text the school if needed).

Elementary teachers will be sending out messages on what to do via Bloomz.
Gr 7-12 will have information in the same document as before, which now also includes the teacher’s email addresses. The links to these documents will be re-sent to parents and students this morning.

Thank you for your patience as we navigate the winter conditions together.

Mrs. Atherton

Not So Friday Flash

Hello Families,
This Flash is a little more condensed than normal as it’s not Friday! As we wonder what the weather brings us this week, we do look forward to seeing many of you at our Christmas concert this week and possibly for pickup on Friday as well. Still a few days of learning and fun to squeeze in before a break.
Hope your week starts off well!
Mrs. Atherton

  • A message from our Parent Committee:

Last year we had such a great response to our Christmas Concert Bake Sale, we would like to do it again at this year’s concert on December 17 @ 6pm.

In order to make this event a success, we are once again reaching out to all parents and caregivers who are able to contribute to this wonderful cause.

If you enjoy baking, we kindly ask if you could consider donating a dozen or two of your favorite holiday treats. Baked goods/treats can be dropped off at PCS on the 16th or 17th in a festive Christmas or holiday themed container. (If you cannot find a container or packaging at our local dollar store, the PC will have some extras and can organize them into tins for sale on the evening of the Christmas concert.)

Your support and generosity will be greatly appreciated, and it will certainly contribute to the success of this event!

Shout Outs

  • To Mr. Villegas for painting our risers for the upcoming Christmas concert.
  • To our amazing staff for their extra hard work to get report cards done and out to each of you!
  • To Mrs. Hunter, Dejrah and Mrs. Neuman for sorting the Purdy’s order for the grads.
