Dear Families,
As we gear up for a brand-new school year, I want to take a moment to say something that really matters to me: We’re in this together.
Whether you’re joining our school community for the first time or you’ve been with us for years, please know this—we’re committed to creating a space where every young person feels seen, supported, and safe. A place where they can grow academically and personally. That kind of environment doesn’t just happen—it’s built through partnership, open communication, and trust.
1. Relationships matter—and we’re working hard to get them right.
At the heart of everything we do is a simple truth: kids learn best from people they trust. Our staff prioritizes relationships because we know that real growth—academic, emotional, social—starts with safe, caring adults who show up consistently. Those connections aren’t random. They’re intentional and they’re essential. We won’t always get it perfect, but we’re committed to learning and growing, just like the students we serve.
2. We train our staff to build trust and hold healthy boundaries.
Every adult in our building is expected to be someone your child can count on—for support, encouragement, challenge, or comfort. We provide ongoing focus on building strong connections and maintaining clear, healthy boundaries.
We also help staff navigate communication with families, manage concerns professionally, and recognize when extra support is needed. This isn’t a one-and-done training—it’s a long-term commitment.
3. What you can expect from us.
As partners in your child’s growth, here’s what we promise:
· We’ll treat your child with dignity and respect.
· We’ll communicate clearly and consistently.
· We’ll follow school policies.
· We’ll assume good intentions, listen well, and respond with care.
· We’ll create space for your child to take healthy risks and build resilience.
- And we’ll always see you as a vital part of this journey.
We’re not promising perfection—but we are promising professionalism, presence, and heart.
4. What we hope we can expect from you.
You know your child best. And we ask that you trust us in knowing student development. When we meet in the middle—with mutual respect and shared expectations—we can do incredible things together.
Here’s what helps:
- Make sure your child gets enough sleep and arrives on time.
- Reach out if you need resources—we’re here.
- Read messages we send home and respond when needed.
- Speak positively about school and the adults here—your child picks up on your tone.
- Let your child experience natural consequences and build resilience.
- Avoid texting during school hours unless it’s urgent.
- Show up when you can—events, concerts, games. It means more than you know.
- Encourage your child to connect with trusted adults at school.
In closing, I hope this message reminds you that behind every confident, capable child is a team of adults—parents, teachers, coaches, mentors—working together.
We’re proud to be on your child’s bench.
Warmly,
Kristin Atherton
Principal
