Hi Families,

Friday is quickly drawing to a close of our third week of school. Students are looking more comfortable with the rhythm of school and what is expected of them. Connections are being made and we’re getting to know the students are new to us. So far off to a busy but great start!

This coming week is Truth & Reconciliation week and our teachers have planned specific learning and activities for our students. We want to recognize the difficulties of the past, better understand how that impacts us currently and work toward a more positive future. We hope to grow our community to celebrate diversity, understand each other, and respect the differences we each bring to our school.

  • Wed Sep 25 – Gr 11 & 12 Post Secondary Institute visit
  • Fri Sep 27 – Wear Orange for Truth & Reconciliation Day
  • Mon Sep 30 – No School for Truth & Reconciliation Day

Looking Ahead

  • Wed Oct 2 6:30 pm – Parent Committee AGM
  • Thu Oct 3 – Gr 5-8 "Stay Over" (more details to come)
  • Wed Oct 9 – Picture Day
  • Mon Oct 14 – No School for Thanksgiving

Good to Know

  • We practiced for two types of emergencies this past week: fire and earthquake. Two more are planned for this coming week: bus evacuation and lockdown. A paper note with more details and FAQs regarding the lockdown drill will come home on Monday.
