RECEPTIONIST

Peace Christian School is looking for a receptionist for the 2023/2024 school year. The ideal individual will assist in supporting all members of our school community and has values which reflect the values of the school.

The School Receptionist is the first point of contact for parents, students, and visitors to the school. As the ‘face’ of the school the receptionist should be welcoming, personable, helpful and able to represent Peace Christian School in a professional and friendly manner. In addition, the person for this role is organized, able to multitask, work flexibly and has a ‘can do’ approach to work, as no two days are the same. The receptionist is also required to assist the administration, teachers, and students with various tasks, requiring a good level of computer and problem-solving skills.

Job Duties Include:

  • Communicating with families (phone calls/texts/emails)
  • Preparing and collecting paperwork from families
  • Collecting payments
  • Ordering books and supplies
  • Filing
  • Keeping contact information updated
  • Assisting with event planning
  • Assisting families/students/staff with various requests

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • Previous experience as a receptionist or secretary
  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to use discretion, patience, tact and respect for confidentiality
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills: in person, telephone and written
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload
  • Comfortable with computers, including Word/Excel/Google Docs/Sheets and a database

Schedule:

  • Starting August 21, 2023
  • Primarily school hours on school days

EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANT

Peace Christian School is looking for a part-time educational assistant. The ideal individual is required to assist in cultivating an inclusive classroom community and whose values reflect the values of the school.

Job Duties Include:

  • Work under the supervision of a teacher responsible for the classroom, primarily in the K-Gr 1 classroom
  • Support students to maximize participation and learning
  • Supplement the instructional and management functions of teachers
  • Assist teachers in developing individual or group communication skills, behavioural support, learning support and life skills
  • Assist in the collection of data, including observations and recording of academic and behavioural performance
  • Oversee students during non-classroom times including in-between classes, during lunch, during recess, and on field trips
  • Collaborate with teachers to recognize issues students are facing and recommend solutions

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Previous experience working with children
  • EA certification
  • Criminal record check
  • Ability to interact with students and colleagues in a professional and effective manner
  • Personality and character suitable to work with students who have exceptionalities

Schedule:

  • Starting September 5, 2023
  • Between 8:30 am and 2:30 pm on school days
